Tyrese Gibson has come under fire from many for a controversial Instagram post about 'white slaves' in South Africa while essentially denying racism
Gibson, 41, first enraged some of his followers when he posted several images and advised his followers to learn about the 'white slaves' and 'reverse racism' in South Africa.
The post featured four photos, including one with a black slave owner holding a gun with three white men chained up, which was called out by several prominent South Africans, and instead of apologizing, he shared a controversial video that was later deleted, but not before Jamie Foxx called him out.
Gibson's first post caught the attention of several on Twitter, including @Tabudim from Johannesberg, who said, 'How could you even conceive the idea that black South South Africans are doing what slave masters did to Africans?'
Other prominent South Africans spoke out including actress Dineo Langa, who said, 'Everyone must report Tyrese's Insta post about South Africa and have his account taken down net vir daai rubbish.'
Bonang Matheba added, '....please, don't come talk shit here about South Africa. Jou swine!' before Gibson deleted the post, only to put up perhaps a more controversial video..
Gibson posted a 13-minute video called What The Left Won't Tell You About The Plight Of Black People And The Myth Of Systemic Racism, which was put together by the conservative content group called Media Research Center.
The video features a number of interviews with black celebs which have been edited to craft a narrative that essentially denies racism, which is when Foxx, 52, chimed in.
'Huh??' Foxx began, in the first of five replies that were never responded to by Tyrese himself, before he ultimately deleted the post.
He added, 'WTF is this post for??' and then 'I'm confused,' before adding, 'Race doesn't matter???!! Look at what we goin threw right now... what does this post mean?? Who is this for??'
Foxx called him out yet again, asking, '"Again I say! What is this post for??? During this horrific time for us? Why are we even talking about what these guys are saying from the comfort of a press junket??'
The actor added, 'Cmon man we can't be this comfortable. Think about the pain these families are going threw Because of the color of their skin..'
